Cable ~ I'm sure Nicholas can confirm, but isn't that a loop shared by multiple households? That would mean the more connections, the slower the speeds.

I hope it's not the case for you Damo. Also as you are aware 24Mbs for me has translated to just shy of 17Mbs, that's a loss of 1/4 of my speed when you calculate packet loss etc.

The guys on Whirlpool.net.au whose estates are running on Velocity are posting that they are getting speeds between 81 - 93mbps down and 3.2 - 4.3mbps up. Taking into account that in Velocity communities the entire estate is signed into a single provider (Telstra) who only offers cable = every resident is on same cable service... and these are the speeds being recorded I'm more than happy with that. It's still vastly superior to anything copper can offer. Also the estate will have it's own Exchange being built (the telco rep from the estate has already confirmed this).

Really looking forward to faster downloads and uploads for my work. Currently sick to death of seeing the FTP uploads of customer artwork ticking away at my lowly capacity which is sadly only 450kbps.

Not going to help much with Xbox Live marketplace stuff where downloads are unfortunately rate limited in Australia. But on Peer to peer based games = good connection.

Allegedly 40 Mb/s.

That speed was with only 1 bar as well. I expect it to slow when more people get on 4G
