Used to be 12.5/1.4mbit then Telstra screwed up and now there is a lot of interference on my line which means much lower speeds and more frequent drop outs.

Considering you & Bec play on that connection, I am surprised. I would've thought you were faster than me.

Halo 3's netcode prioritises and removes something's all together, ragdoll physics and the exact movement of others players are two examples hence why you sometimes get killed by object that don't appear to hit you on your screen and why other players movements are jumpy on replays.

Provided you down/up is greater than 128k with a properly opened NAT and no congestion issues with a decent ISP you aren't going to see much more improvement beyond that unless you get host and then the better detection ect is due to having host not your connection.

From Farreg's results it looks like he is on Telstra wholesale ADSL1 resold by iiNet and if so is achieving close to the theoretical maximum down/up speeds of 8/0.375mbit, if he was on ADSL2+ he might be close to the top or even leading in download speed.

Pretty spot on, though definitely not the best down/upload speeds on WAXLAN. Results in first post.

Badmotor lives not 500 metres away and he gets and average 11Mb/s connection.

I'm closer to the exchange and get poorer rates, it's darned annoying.

My father-in-law has an ADSL 2+ exchange and then the cabling going to his house is from the 60/70's and doesn't support the speeds. He get's around the same speeds as me.

Hmmmm, that's not it as this unit was only built 10 yrs ago, still could be a line fault.

Could also be my modem too I suppose. I might borrow my ADSL modem from work as that's better than mine

I used to have high speed ADSL1 and though you get what "seems" to be good speed tests I read somewhere that both ADSL2+ ADSL1 are interleaved. All high speed connections use it however it can be disabled on ADSL2+ but not on ADSL1. Supposedly it "adds" 20ms to your gaming performance... ie adding more latency.

Anyways if you're interested you can look it up. I remember reading it in alot of places when I was researching my ADSL1 384/8000 connection when I had it.

What is Nema's connection? Last night on Reach he was frequently teleporting on green bar which seems very odd for "green" connection. Mind you he wasn't teleporting long distances - just metre and a half at a time but enough to make tracking very difficult at close range.
