Does it show all the current digital channels??

I haven't heard of it, I never use my PS3 except for movies. What is it exactly?

Well, I have good news and bad news for you:

The Good: I have purchased the Play TV. My intention is for it to be my Digital Set Set Top Box, infact when I bought my PS3, I put a 500GB HDD in it just for this. The contents of the box are the unit, the USB cable, a plastic sticker to go onto your Blueray remote and a disk.

The Bad: I have got my aerial installed yet and have not set up any kind of device for TV reception, so I have not tried it out yet. I am thinking of grabbing some bunny ears, but the signal has always sucked with those. Maybe I can get a USB extension cord to put the bunny eards in a more elevated position...

How much was your PlayTV??

I've seen it around the $149 mark, plus the cost of a HDD, i've read if you're looking at recording anything less would be a bad idea.

EDIT : oh sorry BadBaller it's a way to watch and record free to air digital TV through the PS3 itself.

My TV has a free to air digital tv but for some reason can't subscribe to the Hi Def channels

WAXLAN members get the unit for $145.

I replaced my existing 80GB HDD with a 500GB HDD when I bought my console, you just need a 2.5" SATA drive and the latest PS3 update on a USB stick (thumbdrive/USB drive/memory stick/flash drive etc), as well as your PS3 controller and it's USB cable.

If you really want, bring your HDD and your PS3 to the next LAN and I will do it for you, just give me enough warning to grab the latest PS3 update so I can do that, it should take all up approx 30 mins.

Yeah i've no worries about doing the update and stuff, i'm tempted to buy the unit but if it does the same as my TV except the recording (my TV doesn't) I don't know how much i'd use it.

If you saw my DVD collection you'd understand, I don't really watch terrestrial TV but if it had some sports channels and not just One I might be tempted. Is there a web link for all channels included?? I couldn't find one.

Just checked :- http://www.freeview.com.au/channels/default.aspx?regionId=5

Yeah exactly the same as my TV, so it'd be basically just a recorder for me and I don't like most of the TV shows currently. I prefer to buy a series and watch multiple eps at once
