Pop Cap's enormously successful tower defence game has finally made it on to XBLA. I have the game on my Macbook Pro (using mouse or trackpad) and iPhone (touchscreen) and I doubted that the game could work as well on the Xbox with its control scheme.

Well not only does it work well it beats the PC versions in quite a few different ways. The shoulder buttons scroll through your seed packets very quickly and if you are building a lot of a certain type of plant this is much faster than PC because you don't have to manually keep clicking on seed packets to select them.

Also when Wall Nut bowling you save plenty of time because again you can send down as many nuts as you've stored up in very rapid fire way that the PC simply can't do by virtue of it's control scheme.

Another improvement which makes this version work better is the collection of sun is a case of moving the cursor "near" the sun rather than directly on top of it and having to click it.

The XBLA arcade version is also far superior to the iPhone version. The iPhone version is super scaled down and lacks the Zen Garden and most of the good puzzle games and survival games.

So yes as I mentioned this XBLA version has the complete Zen Garden and the Tree of Wisdom. It also features a personalised house which you can pimp out. In addition to all this Pop Cap have added a coop and vs mode for the XBLA version. I've played both coop and vs with my son and we both loved it. Awesome fun! And you don't have to be in "co-op" mode to play co-op adventure mode you just need a second controller signed in.

10/10 from me and another winner for the wonderful Pop Cap games.

I have to say I'd agree with you on this, i've played on the Mac, iPhone and iPad.

And I have to say I think that this is one of the better versions, like you I was worried about the collection of the suns but I like how they've combatted it.

I heard you can press the triggers and the suns come to you, but I can neither confirm or deny that rumour.

It's definitely a winner in my books

I can now confirm that you can press either trigger and the suns are attracted to you. But only the ones on the screen at that time, so you CAN'T just hold a trigger down.

Cheers to Badmotor for advising me on that tip

The usual funny codes apply to XBLA PvZ. To access the code entry window you need to press LB, RB, LT, RT. There are various different codes - two I remember off the top of my head from the old PvZ on my Mac are Future (which gives all the zombies some pretty 80's looking "futuristic" sunglasses) or moustache (which gives every zombie a big bushy moustache)

Yeah even though I'm a Hardcore Halo MP player and loving Reach - PvZ still manages to draw me in for a game or two after Halo.

It's a nice relaxation device..... BRAAIIIIIINNNSSSSSSSSS!!!!

I'm thinking of getting the finish song as a ringtone, as you can download it free from the PvZ website

Yeah I've had both the English and Japanese versions of the end song on my computer for a while now. Good stuff!
