I am annoyed with the team allocation and spawning.

We went in as a party of 6, I read the description, 6 Spartans vs 6 Elites. So we joined as a party of 6. What does the game do? It splits us up between Elites and Spartans. We were not happy about that. Why would we join as a team to match exactly the right number to fill a team if we wanted to be separated. This is a reoccuring thing.

Spawning, I have spent a large amount of time waiting to respawn, you can respawn on your team mate or you can respawn in one of several locations that can take you 30 seconds to get back into the match. Or you can risk waiting (and waiting and waiting) for your team mate to move to an area where you can spawn, and hope they don't die and spawn you both 30 seconds away...

It sounds good on paper, it even looks good, but there just seems to be something missing entirely from invasion, I can't put my finger on it but I'm not happy with it.

I seriously thought elites would be too powerful, how wrong I was.

I think Bungie thought the Elites would be over powered due to their recharging health bar and shield. Spartans only recharge shields and need a manual health restoration via a wall mounted heal pack. Last night I played a number of Invasion modes and the two or three times I was on the Elite team we managed to get the core to the drop ship with plenty of time to spare. So maybe it just depends on your team mates. I seemed to get matched up with a decent proportion of people who knew what they were doing and how to control power weapon drops and the vehicle spawns.

I think bad Elite teams forget (or don't know) that upon securing the first territory your get two weapon drops on the platform the territory is on - but in addition to that you get 4 vehicle spawns in the area you originally spawned in at the start of the game. This is part of the reason you have the option to spawn at the original territory when you die. I did that and rather than running on foot straight for the objective I turned around and found a bounty of Ghosts, Banshees and Wraiths.

I suspect some peoples dislike of the spawns just requires some further exploration of the games weapon spawns. Go to theatre and fly around the map to see what happens on the maps original spawn location when that first territory is secured and then again when the second territory is secured. I like that the game gives you 3 spawn options. Original spawn, 1st Territory or beside your spawn buddy provided he keeps himself alive long enough for you to do so. I agree with Greg if you are waiting 30secs for option to spawn next to your spawn buddy and then they die you've put yourself out of the game for waaaay too long. When I see the red warning come up now saying my partner is wanting to spawn I either finish off the enemy if they were almost dead or turn around and look for some cover so he can spawn.

Just remember if you want to pick up a covenant vehicle go original spawn. Some of the better players who go spartan team know this spawn and they would go to the Elite original spawn point and grab a vehicle if none of the Elite players are heading there for some.

Invasion slayer is cool. Whichever side holds the territory gets a weapons or vehicle drop. So really the only way to truly dominate that slayer mode is with as many territory captures (and then controlling it until the weapons drop is delivered) as possible.

The ONLY thing I don't like about Invasion is you can't go in with a set team of 6. That sux big time. If they bring out a team invasion mode I'd love to play it with friends. However as it is currently I don't particularly enjoy killing my friends who I had hoped to play alongside just because the game has a random team allocation.

So I think most times I will be entering Invasion solo - until they change it to a team entry option. If anyone wants to party up with me online I'll only do so in Grab Bag as that is a team entry playlist.

Go into invasion in two's, consider it multi-team, you will always have your buddy as your fireteam guy.

Or in a group of 12
